In Mallorca May is a warm, largely dry month without great heat. Rain falls less often than in April. By day it is often beach weather already, and the evenings stay pleasant.

On average over the years 2011 to 2025, the Palma de Mallorca CMT station reaches 23.5 °C by day and 15.9 °C at night in May. On 3.0 days at least 1 mm of rain falls, adding up to 25.9 mm in the month.

For comparison: in April the average high is 20.4 °C, in June it is 27.8 °C. For rainfall, May ranks number 9 of 12 months. The wettest is November with 87.3 mm, the driest is July with 2.7 mm.

Individual days deviate strongly from the average. The highest value for May in the years 2011 to 2025 was 31.8 °C on 22 May 2022, the lowest 10.0 °C on 1 May 2016.

3Sea temperature in Mallorca in May

Off the Bay of Palma the sea averages 18.9 °C in May. In April it is 16.3 °C, in June 22.7 °C. Swimming is possible, but the water is still much cooler than in summer.

The value comes from the NOAA OISST satellite analysis for open water off the bay, averaged over 2011 to 2025. In shallow coves and right at the beach the water can be warmer or colder.

4What to pack for Mallorca in May

For May you pack summer clothing and add a light jacket or a thin jumper for the evening. Sun protection is a must, the sun is strong now. Swimwear is part of it. Rain protection is only a reserve now.

5Which activities suit the weather in May

• Beach: Beach days work well, the water is refreshing to cool.
• Boat trip: Good conditions on many days, and a light jacket helps against the wind on board.
• Hiking: Still pleasant, and starting early pays off on warm days.
• Caves: For the few rain days or as a break from the sun.
• City: Warm, but without summer heat. Very good for Palma.
