1Best time for a beach holiday in Mallorca

For beach and sea, warm water and dry days are what count. June to September offer both. The sea off the Bay of Palma averages 22.7 °C in June, 25.7 °C in July, 26.9 °C in August and 25.9 °C in September.

Rain is the exception in high summer: on average there are 0.5 rain days in July and 1.7 rain days in June. With 5.1 rain days, September is clearly more changeable, but it has warmer water than July.

October can still be a swimming month too, because in October the sea, at 23.5 °C, is warmer than in June. However, October is the second wettest month with 63.1 mm.

2Best time for hiking and cycling in Mallorca

If you want to be active, you need mild days without heat. In Palma the average high is 18.1 °C in March, 20.4 °C in April and 23.5 °C in May. In October it is 25.1 °C.

With 6.1 rain days, March still brings rain more often, but the amounts stay moderate. In May there are only 3.0 rain days. In high summer, with 30.9 °C in August, longer tours only make sense early in the morning.

In the mountains it is cooler and often wetter than on the coast. The values from Palma are only a guide there.

3Best time for Palma and day trips

Palma can be visited all year round. In winter the days stay mild, with 16.3 °C on average in January. In spring and autumn it is warm without the midday heat dominating the day.

In July and August, with 30.6 °C and 30.9 °C by day, sightseeing belongs in the morning or the evening. For rain days in autumn, museums, market halls and caves are a good fallback.

4Mallorca in winter: mild, but no swimming weather

From December to February, the average highs in Palma range between 16.3 °C in January and 17.8 °C in December. The nights are cool, with 8.6 °C on average in February. The sea is coldest in February at 14.5 °C.

Winter suits quiet days, the city and hikes on dry days. November, just before, is the wettest month of the year with 87.3 mm and 8.1 rain days. December is clearly drier again.

5If you are tied to the summer school holidays

July and August are hot and almost free of rain. July is the driest month of the year with 2.7 mm. Plan for shade around midday, plenty of water and activities in the morning or evening.

If your dates are flexible and you cope badly with heat, June and September offer similar swimming weather at lower temperatures.
